Group vacations
Our house offers a total of 10 people. Both houses together are therefore ideally suited for a relaxed group holiday (except for youth groups).
The property with a large garden offers around 2600m² of space for activities such as volleyball, badminton, badminton or soccer. Prepare a cozy barbecue evening with your friends and enjoy your beer or a good red wine on the terrace.
The island also offers a varied range of activities for groups. Whether active, relaxed, calm or eventful, Ameland has it all.
to go biking
The fact is: Ameland is best explored by bike.
The island offers a cycle path network of approx. 100 km. Whether along the dike, through the villages and dunes or along the sea, no corner of Ameland is reserved for you. You can calmly cycle along the paths and enjoy the landscape, visit villages, observe animals or fiett into town for a drink and a delicious dinner. Discover Ameland individually and let the bike paths guide you to your desired destination.
Hiking and Nordic walking
For those who prefer to explore the island on foot, there are various hiking trails that extend over the entire island. Hiking is a special way of discovering the multifaceted island on Ameland.
Experience the extensive nature, the magnificent dune landscapes and salt marshes, the large forests and the surrounding beach. The opportunity should definitely not be missed. A perfect way to unwind and let the impressions work on you. Watch the animals, listen to all sorts of birds, enjoy the sound of the waves and the sound of the wind in the dune grass.
Active in summer
The summer months are high season on Ameland. Although the island is very popular, it is not overcrowded with tourists. You mainly meet Dutch and Germans. But the English, French and Spanish have also discovered the wonderful island as a holiday destination for themselves. Most tourists can be found in Nes and Buren.
So if you are looking for a relaxing holiday and do not want to go to the "tourist strongholds", Ballum is the place for you.
Ameland is particularly popular with visitors in summer. Hardly a wish is left unanswered and often you get offers on request that you cannot find immediately in the travel guide.

Kite surfing
Not only experienced kite surfers have been able to pursue their sport without a permit in the designated areas since 2007, but also inexperienced people can dare to try it. Accompanied by trained instructors, beginners are safely introduced to the sport. Guaranteed fun!

Kayaking and rafting
Take to the Ameland surf and experience the speed of the water. Learn how to brave the water on the lake. Have fun with your friends and have an unforgettable experience. Effort, fun and a wealth of experiences can be perfectly combined in this sport.

sailing
Sailing tours are offered from Holwerd. There is room for 20 - 39 people on the sailing ship. Book an exciting day trip and discover nature from the water: birds, seals and porpoises can cross your path. More information on this at VVV Ameland
Vacation with your dog
It is often difficult to plan a vacation with a dog because the beloved four-legged friend is reluctant to be seen in the rental property. Quite the opposite for us. Treat yourself and your dog to an unforgettable holiday in one of our holiday homes on Ameland.
Dogs welcome
We allow two dogs per house. The garden is huge (2600m² property area) and fenced. Give your dog the space he needs. Also from inside, you always have a perfect view of the garden through the large glass facades.
Active with the dog
Explore the island with your dog. You can take long walks on the beach, through the dunes and forests. When kept on a leash, you can also take it with you to the nearby nature reserve. But always keep a watchful eye - it is teeming with rabbits, geese and pheasants.
Out and about with your four-legged friend
The beach also offers special dog beach sections, but in principle you can always let your four-legged friend run free, except directly on the beach.
Dogs are really welcome everywhere! You don't have to leave it at home if you want to go to a good restaurant in the evening or visit one of the many nice bars.
You should visit Ameland especially in spring, autumn and especially outside of the school holidays. You will be overwhelmed by the tranquility the island offers. Run for hours with your dogs through the dunes and across the beach, stop at the beach café, which is open all year round, and let the evening fade away.
family holiday
With space for up to 10 people, our houses are ideal for large families or for those who are planning a vacation with families of friends.
2 double rooms and one single room per half of the house offer sufficient retreat options. If required, we can also provide you with a cot. The large enclosed garden offers enough space to relax and play. The children can let off steam and the dogs run free while the adults prepare the barbecue evening, for example.
End the day together on the terrace, put the children to bed and enjoy a last glass of red wine. There is also space for all family members and friends in the kitchen, because the table can be pulled out and every house has 8 kitchen chairs and a high chair. Cooking together becomes fun.
The spacious couch in the living room invites you to cozy TV evenings or to cuddle.
Leisure activities with the family
Sufficient parking space is provided. Anyone who wants to ride a bike in a group can safely park them on the property. For example, you can borrow tandem bikes, go on a group ride across the island, plan beach trips, shopping trips, bowling evenings or visit one of the many different restaurants.
For the little ones, Ameland offers safe children's playgrounds and many outdoor adventure playgrounds.
Ameland in winter
Experience the beauty and tranquility of the island even in winter when Ameland is covered in snow and the Christmas spirit arises. Treat yourself and your family to a few days of relaxation and togetherness, or experience romantic days for two.
Peace and quiet
Enjoy the tranquility and calm atmosphere of the entire island. This season is exactly the right thing for those looking for relaxation. With an average of 5 degrees it doesn't get too cold on Ameland in winter. But it does happen that the North Sea is icy and especially in time for the holidays the island is covered with snow.
Winter leisure activities
You will notice that the air is much clearer. Walk through the dunes and forests, along the lakes in the nature reserve or discover the beautiful landscape on a horse ride. The enthusiastic cyclists are not neglected in these months either. Grab your bike and go on a long and relaxing tour of the island.
Revitalize your body with a dip in the ice-cold North Sea and then treat yourself to an Irish coffee in the beach pavilion. Of course, you don't have to do without wellness and activities in winter. The island also has many offers for its visitors over the winter months.

Dogs welcome
Dogs love the island and our house. The large garden with a lot of green space and surrounded by old trees and natural fence offers plenty of space to romp around and explore. You can also enjoy long walks with your four-legged friend, because the dunes and the dog-friendly beach are in the immediate vicinity of the house.
